Privacy Policy

Effective October 8, 2026

Who we are

Glintlist ("Glintlist", "we", "us") is an event discovery app available at https://glintlist.app. This policy explains what information we collect when you use Glintlist, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email us at support@glintlist.app.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier. We also create a public username (for example, quiet-falcon-382) and a friend code for you, and store the first and last name you choose to show.
• Location. To show events near you, we store a default location as map coordinates. You provide it either by letting your device share its location (only with your permission) or by searching for a place. You can change it at any time.
• Your activity. We store the events you rate — Match, Going, or Skip — and when you rated them, any changes or undos, and the searches you run. From your ratings we build a taste profile (a mathematical summary of the kinds of events you like) that powers your recommendations.
• Social features. If you use friends features, we store who you follow and who follows you, follow requests, people you block, your sharing settings, and any report you submit about another user (including the details you write).
• Notifications. If you turn on notifications, we store the push subscription your browser provides (an endpoint address and encryption keys), your browser's user-agent string, and which event we last notified you about so we don't repeat it.
• Technical and log data. Like most online services, our servers automatically record technical information with each request, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page or feature requested, and the date and time. We use this to run, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
• Information stored on your device. The app stores some data in your browser's local storage so it works quickly and offline — for example, ratings waiting to be sent, a copy of your current event cards, and whether you've seen the app tour. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not currently use third-party analytics.

How we use information

• To provide Glintlist: sign you in, show your feed, search, lists, and friends features, and remember your settings.
• To personalize recommendations: your ratings and taste profile decide which events we show you and in what order.
• To power social features: show people you've approved what you've chosen to share, and suggest events your friends are going to.
• To send notifications you've opted into, such as a daily event pick.
• To keep Glintlist safe: prevent abuse, enforce blocks and reports, and protect the security of our systems.
• To operate and improve the service: measure performance, fix bugs, and understand overall usage (in aggregate).
• To communicate with you when you contact us for support.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising. Any ads currently shown in Glintlist are not personalized and are not based on your activity. If that changes, we will update this policy before it does.

What other people can see

• Anyone with your friend code can see your first name, last initial, and username.
• People you approve to follow you can see your full name and — only if you turn sharing on — your Going list and/or your Matches, plus a taste match percentage between you.
• Never shared with other users: your email address, your location, your skips, or your searches.
Your Going list and Matches are private by default. You can change your sharing settings at any time in the app.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run Glintlist, and only as needed for them to do so:
• Google Cloud and Firebase host the app, handle sign-in, and store and process our data and server logs.
• Google's Gemini API processes the text of your searches so we can find matching events.
• OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) receives the text of place searches you type when setting a location, and OpenStreetMap's map servers deliver map images when you view a map. Like any website you load content from, they can see your IP address.
• Browser push services (for example Google, Apple, or Mozilla, depending on your browser) deliver notifications you've turned on.

Links to ticket sellers and other sites

Events in Glintlist come from third-party platforms such as Ticketmaster and SeatGeek. When you follow a link to view or buy tickets, you leave Glintlist, and that site's own privacy policy applies. We don't control and aren't responsible for their practices.

Legal reasons and business changes

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it's required by law or legal process, or necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or Glintlist. If Glintlist is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, and this policy will continue to apply to it.

How long we keep information

We keep your account information, ratings, and social data for as long as your account exists. Server logs are kept for a limited period (typically about 30 days) unless needed longer to investigate abuse or a security issue. When you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep something for legal or security reasons.

Your choices and rights

• Update your information: change your name, location, sharing settings, and notifications in the app.
• Turn off notifications: in the app or in your browser or device settings.
• Location: you can decline location permission and enter a place instead.
• Access, correct, or delete your data: email support@glintlist.app from the address on your account and we'll respond within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your profile, ratings, taste profile, lists, follows, and notification subscriptions.
Depending on where you live (for example California, or the European Economic Area and United Kingdom), you may have additional rights, such as to know what personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy of it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We honor these requests for all users regardless of location. Where the law requires a legal basis, we process your information to provide the service you asked for, based on our legitimate interests in running and securing Glintlist, or with your consent (for example, device location and notifications), which you can withdraw at any time.

Children

Glintlist is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, Google-managed encryption at rest, and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Where information is processed

Glintlist is operated from, and stores data in, the United States. If you use Glintlist from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the effective date above, and if the changes are significant we'll let you know in the app before they take effect.
